7th Aral Summer School
We are excited to invite young professionals, researchers, and activists from Central Asia, Afghanistan, and Mongolia to apply for the 7th Aral Sea Summer School, organized by the Kazakh-German University (DKU) in collaboration with IHE Delft, GIZ, and the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea in Kazakhstan. This summer school is a unique opportunity to:
Learn about sustainable water and land management
Explore ecosystem restoration and climate adaptation practices in the Aral Sea region
Take part in hands-on field research and team-based project development
Thematic Focus Areas:
• Water security and agricultural adaptation to climate change
• Ecotourism and restoration of natural heritage in the Aral region
• Application of GIS and satellite data for environmental monitoring

Funding Information:Participation costs (travel, accommodation, meals) may be fully or partially covered based on the results of your application form and a follow-up interview.

• Master’s and PhD students, early-career professionals (ages 18–40)
• From Central Asian countries, Afghanistan, and Mongolia
• Women are strongly encouraged to apply to promote gender balance• Working languages: English and Russian
